“Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand” – Confucius
We believe that children learn through a carefully prepared environment where they are able to grow their own natural talents. All subject areas are blended together to compose an extraordinary educational experience where children work freely in a structured environment. Within this framework the children progress at their own pace and rhythm, according to their individual capabilities.
Studies are centered in these areas:
Sensorial
It is the job of the teacher to aid in the refinement of the child’s senses and to use the sensorial materials that are always made available to the child.
Practical Life
These activities are designed to teach the child how to deal with their real world environment. Activities such as; pouring, cutting and pasting, tying shoes, etc. also help the child with a sense of order, coordination, independence and concentration. Vegetables, fruits and planting flowers are a part of our daily activities so the children can enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Social Studies
Children learn the importance of citizenship, community and family. Monthly, we learn about different countries’ cultures and teach the importance of respecting human diversity. Exploration of each area is encouraged through trips outside the classroom and activities, which give them a deeper appreciation for others. This inclusive approach to education fosters a feeling of connection to all humanity, therefore encourages their natural desire to make contributions to the world.
Language, Mathematics, and Writing
Children are introduced to concepts of language and mathematics and are encouraged to explore these areas of essential cognitive skills. These skills are reinforced through various writing exercises where children strengthen penmanship and comprehension skills.
Phonetic Reading Program
Through our phonetic reading program children build a passion for reading at an early age. Our five year olds are reading at a 3rd grade level!
Science, Botany & Zoology
The science curriculum is an integral part of the Montessori classroom which promotes curiosity. Children begin to understand about their environment first by observing and then by experimenting with hands-on activities which include classifying and caring for different plants and animals.
Foreign Language
The children will be enriched through the joy of learning Spanish. The objective of the curriculum is to learn a different and exciting language through fun and engaging activities.
Art, Music, and Dance
Your child will be introduced to an array of artistic concepts to encourage creativity and appreciation of art. Introductions to Composers, Impressionist and Poets are just few of the areas the children will explore. Yearly recitals are held to display the children’s interpretations of music and movement.
Extra Activities
We offer a variety of after school programs for our students to participate. These programs include soccer and gymnastics. This is an additional program and an additional fee will apply.
